Atech Composites
As a subsidiary of the Horizon Group, Atech has remained at the forefront of advanced resin infusion molding technology for two decades. In the build of Horizon yacht hulls, Atech was the first licensee in Asia to utilize TPI Composites’ patented SCRIMP (Seemann’s Composites Resin Infusion Molding Process) vacuum infusion process, a construction method developed by the U.S. Navy as a means to increase a vessel’s strength and durability without adding weight or affecting performance.
In 2004, Atech developed an improved 3D resin infusion technology that facilitated resin flow up and down internal stiffeners, enabling the efficient build of far larger structures than previously possible. By 2020, Atech had developed and patented a revolutionary 6D resin infusion technology, which utilizes 3D structure fiber cloth with the 3D vacuum infusion process to guarantee even resin distribution throughout the laminate for lighter and stronger hulls.
Working across industries and investing in continuous R&D and innovation for two decades, Atech has become the only total solution provider for large-scale composite component manufacturing in Asia. Atech’s composite products range from marine to aviation, national defense, transportation, infrastructure and offshore wind energy industries.
Atech is the only composite shipyard in Asia to have introduced aerospace-grade Non-Destructive Test and profile measurement technology into its build processes, and as such, Horizon is the only luxury yacht builder to use aerospace-grade technology in the testing of every FRP component, which further improves the precision and accuracy of every Horizon yacht mold.
