U.S. Owners of Horizon FD87 Skyline Visits “Dream” Yacht in Build at Shipyard

2017-08-30

Recently Horizon Yachts had the pleasure of hosting Travis and Tina Fox, the owners of the new Horizon FD87 “SKYLINE” hull one, at our shipyards in Taiwan; the Foxes traveled to Taiwan to finalize build details and view their motoryacht, which is scheduled to deliver in early 2018.

We reported on the Fox’s yachting journey earlier this year when they began a new adventure of building their “dream” yacht with Horizon (you can read the article here). Horizon was thrilled to have the owners visit “SKYLINE” while in build, and the Foxes were hard at work during their visit, firming up the interior and exterior design, specifying their AV/NAV equipment, and reviewing engineering details. They toured through their boat – which has progressed nicely to the joining of hull and superstructure – and were able to see first-hand the immense space offered by the 23’3 beam and their customized layout. The owners also previewed and sea trialed the Horizon FD85 hull three motoryacht, which will be the first Horizon FD model to debut in the U.S. this fall; this only increased their excitement for fun cruising days head on board “SKYLINE” with family and friends!

The Foxes have customized “SKYLINE” to suit their family’s lifestyle from the interior design to the layout and beyond. A modern yet comfortable Italian oasis is the design theme behind their FD87; she features light Anegre for the main wood with lacquer accents and beautiful neutral stones, and each room, including the “cigar lounge” enclosed bridge in Walnut wood, incorporates pops of color to make them unique.

A trademark of the FD87 model, “SKYLINE” includes an the enclosed skylounge with a Portuguese bridge walk-around as well as a customized aft beach club for watersports and lazy days at anchor. Her voluminous beam allows for five en suite guest staterooms, including an on-deck Master, as well as private crew quarters aft of the engines. On the main deck, the Foxes opted for “convertible” main salon and formal dining areas to suit their lifestyle – the main salon sofa has a sleeper function for extra bed space, and the formal dining area can be rearranged as a breakfast bar as needed, thanks to multi-functional furniture. Up top in the skylounge, a bar area, desk, dinette and dayhead compliment the fully equipped helm, and outdoor spaces, such as the boat deck with Jacuzzi and forward seating and sunpads, ensure the Foxes will be soaking up the sun and relaxing in comfort.

“Working with the Horizon team and seeing Skyline in person really exceeded all expectations we had for our trip,” said the Foxes. “While we enjoyed traveling in the FD85 past the forts and industry in Kaohsiung harbor, seeing the changes we made to the design with Skyline brought to life by the team at the Horizon yard was inspiring.  We’re continually impressed by the willingness of the Horizon team to incorporate our ideas into the design, and are confident the FD85 and FD87 lines will be a big hit in the US market.”

During their trip, the Foxes also took time to explore Taiwan. They visited the Chiang Kai-Shek memorial, Taipei 101, the presidential building, and three temples in Taipei; while in Kaohsiung, they browsed the night market, sampled local cuisine, and toured along the Love River.

Of their Taiwan experience the Foxes noted, “Taiwan in a beautiful island with a mix of bustling cities, towering mountains, a rich history and welcoming residents.  We really enjoyed our extra days in Taipei and Kaohsiung, and hiring a local guide allowed us to experience more than ever expected.  From modern architectural icons to ancient temples, busy streets and quiet parks, the high speed rail and riverside walks – the island really does have something for everyone. We’d strongly encourage anyone considering or actively building a Horizon yacht to take the opportunity to visit the Horizon team at Taiwan in person.  The hospitality shown by John and the entire team at Horizon was rivaled only by that shown by those we encountered in our excursions across the island.  We’re already planning our next trip, and look forward to seeing everyone again soon.”

From all of us at Horizon, we thank Travis and Tina Fox for a wonderful visit to the Horizon shipyards, and we are excited to launch their dream yacht, the Horizon FD87 “SKYLINE”, in the coming months! For more information, please contact us at 561-721-4850 or sales@horizonyachtusa.com.
