Horizon E88 Mechtilda’s Impressive Sea Trial

2013-02-22

A new Horizon E88 skylounge motoryacht Mechtilda was recently sea trialed in Taiwan with her Australian owner on board; she performed extremely well and to her owner’s satisfaction, reaching a top speed of 23.5 knots with her twin MTU 12V2000M94 1920BHP engines.  A good friend of Mechtilda’s owner, who owns a Horizon E88 named Mineral Water out of Australia, also attended the sea trial and was impressed with her performance.

The Horizon design team, in keeping with the owner’s layout requirements, moved Mechtilda’s galley completely aft on the main deck, allowing the aft deck and galley to come together as one large entertaining space.  Forward of the galley lies a dinette, which is separated from the main salon by a beautiful custom-designed partition that can be hidden when desired.  Completely forward on the main deck is the owner’s office that takes advantage of the expansive windshield windows to offer an amazing view. Below deck are four en-suite staterooms, and crew quarters are found aft of the engines.

Since her owner plans to cruise various destinations, some of which are height-restrictive, Mechtilda was built height and weight conscious; for example, Horizon designed and implemented a folding radar mast that will fold down at the touch of a button, allowing the yacht to travel without “overhead” worry.   Mechtilda also includes a transformer on the swim platform that can hold up to 660 pounds (300 kilos) and extend up, outwards and down for enjoying numerous water activities.

Mechtilda will be delivered to her new owner in Perth, Australia in mid-March – Horizon wishes Mechtilda and her new owners happy cruising and many adventures on board!
