Repeat Horizon Owner Takes Delivery of Brand New FD92

The FD92 is the first of the new model to be built on spec

Soon after her arrival in the U.S., the first speculative build of the brand new FD92 model was delivered to a repeat Horizon owner. Handed over during the private Winter Showcase event held at the Horizon Fort Lauderdale office at the Hall of Fame Marina, the FD92 is the third Horizon yacht for this extremely experienced owner, whose latest yacht was one of the first FD Series yachts, Hull Three of the FD85.

Christened Christine, the FD92 was built on spec for the American market, but the owner had his eye on the build from the conception stages. While Horizon is known for embracing owner customization, this owner says there isn’t much he likes to change on his Horizon yachts, noting, “I usually take the boats as they are. I think Horizon does a really good job.”

Christine accommodates a total of five staterooms including a full-beam, on-deck master stateroom with a his-and-hers ensuite and plenty of storage.

Satin Anegre with high-gloss walnut accents and a walnut floor highlight the main deck, which is laid out in a traditional configuration with the main salon aft and formal dining and galley amidships. The on-deck master stateroom is situated furthest forward. Highlighted by floor-to-ceiling windows, the main salon features a dayhead aft, a leather L-shaped sofa with freestanding chairs and a coffee table. Forward, a convertible table can be expanded for formal dining or folded to a sofa table or breakfast bar to maximize space. The fully-equipped galley can be separated from the salon via privacy doors and features an artistically-styled Hi/Lo island partition for ease of service.

Highlighted with the same satin Anegre finish, the lower deck houses three queen-size en suite staterooms as well as a convertible twin en suite. The engine room, crew quarters and beach club are positioned aft of the guest accommodations. The crew area has been designed with a Captain’s cabin and two bunk cabins.

On the upper deck, the enclosed skylounge features a wheelhouse forward and a casual seating area facing a pop-up television and dayhead aft. The boat deck houses an L-shaped bar with icemaker, fridge and fixed stools as well as a Jacuzzi tub with a bartop and three fixed bar stools. The tender is stowed aft and launched/retrieved by the hydraulic Steelhead davit and the entire entertainment area can be shaded by sun shades.

The FD92’s tri-deck design allows for a helm, L-shaped seating, sunpad and a wet bar equipped with a fridge and icemaker to be positioned on the uppermost deck.

Another inviting exterior area has been designed for the foredeck, which features a U-shaped seating area, large sunpad, fridge/icemaker and plenty of storage. This area, too, can be protected with Horizon’s custom shade system.

The wide beach club at the stern offers a sofa and bar area with refrigerator, freezer and barstools, as well as a 32” television. The hydraulic Hi/Lo swim platform offers a 2,000lb capacity and features a built-in shower.

Powered by twin MAN V12 diesels and equipped with Side-Power stabilizers and thrusters, the FD92 offers a smooth ride and an island-friendly draft for cruising throughout the Caribbean and Bahamas.

“This year, we’ve delivered seven yachts to their owners sight-unseen, including this FD92,” says Horizon Yacht USA director Roger Sowerbutts. “It’s a by-product of the global pandemic and travel restrictions, but also a strong signal of our clients’ trust and confidence in Horizon’s yacht building capabilities.”
