Horizon V68 to Make Northeast Debut at the Newport International Boat Show

Hull 1 to be showcased at Bannister’s South Dock during the September show
The Horizon V68 meandered her way up the U.S. Eastern Seaboard this summer, turning heads with her unique lines, vertical bow and inviting exterior flybridge, cockpit and beach club configuration. She has now arrived in Newport, Rhode Island, where she is being prepared for her northeast debut at the Newport International Boat Show September 12 – 15th, 2019.
Created in collaboration with world-renowned designer Jonathan Quinn Barnett (JQB) with a hull design from Stimson Yachts of New Zealand, the V68 was built to an exacting design brief, which specified the largest yacht with long-range capability that two people or a small family could run themselves. The result is a true “mini-superyacht” within an efficient waterline length of 67’ 8” where performance and amenities combine effortlessly to offer the best of all worlds.
The hull and vertical bow design facilitate minimal drag at lower displacement speeds, allowing for an efficient 800nm range at 9 knots. At the same time, the design lends itself to an exceptionally spacious interior, wherein JQB maximized the 19’ 6” beam to incorporate comfort and functionality throughout. An expansive 11’ cockpit welcomes visitors through the folding glass doors into the beamy salon, which leads to a country kitchen-style galley forward. The interior volume is most apparent, however, in the lower deck accommodations comprised of a forward VIP, master stateroom aft, and convertible twin amidships. The open bridge – which can be specified enclosed on new builds – features a day head, grill, and entertainment areas while additional lounging areas are situated forward and aft.
As with every Horizon yacht, customization is encouraged, and V68 owners are offered the option of an open or enclosed bridge in a design that can be amended to suit the needs of the owner/operators. Twin Caterpillar C18 Acerts power the V68 to just over 25 knots with an 18-knot cruising speed, and she is fitted with ABT-Trac stabilizers, stern and bow thrusters for additional comfort and maneuverability. Owner/operators will also enjoy the systems integration and mobile device interfaces for monitoring.
